Sustaining

Learning Turkish has been one of those long journeys that is both filled with intense joy as well as excruciating effort.

Learning any language is this way I'd guess.   Motivation and commitment are at the heart of a successful journey.  And when I talk with my Turkish friends trying to learn English, I realize that for them too, language learning is a long journey filled with hard work, ups and downs and a whole lot of time spent moving forward - one step at a time.

But one thing we both share is the need for quality resources to help us learn the language.

My work at The Everyday Language Learner and Ingilizce Öğrenmek (English Learning) are both incredibly rewarding.  I receive regular emails from both Turks and from other expats around the world asking for help or offering thanks for the resources I have created at those to sites to help people learn.

And so it was a lot of fun this week to create a parallel (Turkish/English) version of one of my guides for language learners.  The left column is in Turkish on each page and the right column is the English.  I hope it will be a great resource for both Turks learning English and for those working to learn Turkish as well.

Language learning is a long road of hard work with great rewards.  I am exicted to be a part of helping others on the journey be more effective, more efficient and have more fun.  I am exicted too that I get to create a few resources to assist learners and hope to continue to do more.
